Milk snakes can be found in a wide variety of habitat, ranging from forests to farm fields. They can be found under leaves and fallen logs. These non-venomous snakes prey upon a wide range of rodents, frogs, birds and even other snakes. |

Although non-venomous, a large number of these snakes are killed each here by humans. If threatened, the milk snake will vibrate its tail to mimic the sound of a rattlesnake. If a wild snake is picked up, there is a good chance that it will bite. Between 6 and 15 elliptical eggs are laid during June and July, with the young hatching sometime in August. Eggs are typically laid in rotting logs, or other similar forest debris. |
